        Hello Jeff,



        your badges appear to be original Bacqueville badges. These pieces are highly controversial. Dealers sell them as originals, but there are a lot of collectors who donĀ“t believe in these badges.

          Note that the word used is "original" and not "period" or "authorized". The reason is that these badges have been faked regardless of the original classification.

          Nobody can say conclusively what the purpose of the badges you posted might be. The thread referenced tells the story.

            Hi Jeff,

            All three of these badges appear to be consistent with original "French" badges and bear classic patterns of "evaporation" of gilding. The HSF is one of the nicer I have seen.

              I agree with all the preceding comments, but would just like to add that we really should get away from the term "Bacqueville" and stick with "French-made" since there has never been any known or even reasonably supported connection to the firm of Bacqueville (who has on at least two occasions denied any connection to these badges).
