    horrible Schwerin U-boat fake

    Hello all,

I have my opinion, but can anyone please confirm for me that this is a reproduction and nothing like an original. Anyone out there an "authority" on this kind of thing? To me there are numerous things wrong with the badge, eagle's head, wreath, the reverse hinge assembly, the catch, as well as the maker mark.

A fake. We have seen this one floating around for many years. Maker mark, pin, catch, eagle eye, goes on and on.

You are correct, this is so called cyclop fake
        Here is 'unmarked variation' https://www.weitze.net/detail/14/U_B...n__173714.html

take out the words U-boat and Badge

Also take out the word Schwerin and you are stuck with just what it is
          Horrible

It is a total fake and does not bare any resemblance to an original Period Schwerin U-Boat Badge and there is not much else to say.
          Cheers
          Steve

Weitze is a huge company with thousands of items for sale, it's just very hard to avoid fakes in such situation, I think they do their best anyway.
                        Cheers,

Weitze is a great shop to deal with.
If there is any question on a badge no matter what it is just to return it and you get a full refund imediately or something else.
check out Wittman or Shea, they have had or have lot's worse fakes sometimes.

It has been delisted apparently. Well, say what you want, but this forum helps collectors and dealers from time to time.
