I picked up this medal can anyone tell me something about it?,and maybe can put a price-tag on it?

Well, it is a Flottenkriegsabzeichen. I have one very similar to it except that the pin is slightly different, it's centered on the hinge, and the catch is different.

It seems there are several makers that used this semi-hollow design for their badges.

1) George´s type, very likely Foerster & Barth
2) There are L/18 marked ones with this semi-hollow design
3) Jacob´s badge seems to me of the setup type shown below (possibly Petz & Lorenz)

Interesting compare Frank, reminds me a little of the type of set-up including the pin, used on some SA sportbadges.

Would the hinge be close to the one shown on the KVK?

The pin, is it domed on top and more flat on the bottom (in cross-section)?

Is the catch close to teh one of teh KVK?

I would not trash it, it might be ok, but without better and more pictures (hinge from a side view close up, catch from a side view close up) nothing more can be said.

An pannel of 3 experts has taken an look ....they claim it to be an orginal but very late ware....its scaled round about a 150 euro..........not a bad deal since I bought it for 55......

Wrong, Jacob. Three guys looked at it and said it is interesting and possibly ok. Why do you go from one extreme (trashing it) to another (praising it original) in 4 days without any new input? This badge is in the middle of things until more is found out.

No you dont get it ....I sent pictures to an expert last week...did not expect an answer....but received just this afternoon an email that he and 2 others had a discussion on it and they agreed that it was a very late war orginal....they put a pricetag of 150 euro on it.

I will try to opload the new pictures but das verdamte apparat funkioniert nicht ...and yes ...maybe I seem to impatient.....I will try to temper my enthousiashme....(mein engels is nicht so best...)
