    Hi André,

Could you please post closeup detail shots of your badge, including the eagle and both the outer and inner edges of the badge?

    Best regards,

These are great closeups, André. Your badge is in very nice condition!

It would be very interesting to compare the thickness of this badge to Alex's 1st pattern unmarked badge and to a marked AS in triangle badge as well. It's hard to tell from photos but my impression is that your unmarked "missing link" badge may be thicker than the marked "AS in triangle" badges and more like the 1st pattern badges, which would again tie in quite nicely with a proposed timeline going from the 1st pattern unmarked badges through your unmarked 2nd pattern badge and on to the thinner marked 2nd pattern badges.

Perhaps both you and Adrian could post the caliper thickness of your badges at various points on the wreath? And if someone has a marked AS in triangle minesweeper handy, the thickness of that would complete the comparison.

                    Best regards,
                    ---Norm

No problem Norm. Will post here as soon as I get it done.

                        Hi Norm,

Mesuments of the Unmarked Minesweeper in Zinc:
                        -Total height: 56 mm.
                        -Total breadth: 45 mm.
                        -Total weight: 28 gr.

                        Thickness of the wreath:
-Above left and right from the eaglewings: 3 mm.
-Left in the middle: 2.9 mm.
-Right in the middle: 2.8 m.
                        -Left under:2.9 mm.
                        -Right under: 2.8 mm.

Thickness in the middle of the splash: 4.2 mm.
Hope this can help us and good luck.
                        Kind Regards
                        André

                          Excellent André!
Lorenzo Brown previously reported the dimensions of his maker marked AS in triangle badge with 2nd pattern eagle:
                          Height 55.9 mm
                          Width 45 mm
                          Spout thickness 3.6 mm
                          Weight 25.4 gm

It's clear your unmarked version with the 2nd pattern eagle has the same dimensions but is heavier and thicker, just like the unmarked 1st pattern eagle badges. This shows that when they moved to the new reverse dies with the maker mark the badges became thinner.
Probably not much interest to the general public, but for minesweeper geeks like me this is a breakthrough!

                          Best regards,
                          ---Norm

No, quite interesting I think Norm. Thanks for putting all this together.

My own unmarked 1st pattern just arrived in the mail today.

Here it is and also I've appended a chart comparing the 4 different versions of this badge (the tombak and the 3 zinc versions discussed). Note that the tombak version is actually lighter because it's considerably thinner than the zinc version. I think they needed to make the reverse die thicker to accommodate the crimping crater for the hardware on the zinc version.

I'd still be interested in seeing how the dimensions/weight of Adrian's 1st pattern zinc badge compare with mine.

                              Best regards,
