silver uboat clasp

I have a silver first pattern uboat clasp that looks like it has some field repairs do to it. It has some additional solder on the round retaining pin. The clasp is not the fluted one but looks like it has been replaced and held to the hinge block by a small piece of wire. It has a Uboat number scratched in the back . It has the uneven writing with the smaller C. Your opinions please.

Either this has been lying in water and dirt for 60 years, or it is a very crude fake.
My money is on the last.

I agree with Mads. The material from wich this badge is made doens't look like zink at all.

Hello,

as Phillipe wrote, this Badge is not made of Zinc IMO.
And this means it´s a fake. I saw some U-Boat-Clasps in real poor condition before, but no one looked like this.

Thanks for your help. I didn't pay a tremendous amount for it and as soon as I read Gordan's site about covered lead. The badge doesn't look like a lead one.
