    Anti Partisan Badge stickpins...opinions?

    Hello Everyone,
I just got these in and am really curious as to what the consensus is on originality. They both measure 16mm x 13mm. The overall length with pin is 47mm. They are non magnetic, and I have no idea what the metal is that they are made with (seems like brass). They appear to be stamped, as it seems there are sheer marks on the sides. The detail seems very sharp. The pics are the best I can do with my mavica camera. I look forward to any and all opinions.
    Sincerely Andy B.
PS I have a return option on them, so please let me know.

Note, the first one seems to be a bronze version, the second is silver

                HI Andy:

Do you have any idea of the composition of the badge...IE is it zinc?

                  Hi John,
They are not zinc. They seem to be made out of brass (maybe tombak). Any ideas on how to check the metal would be appreciated.
                  Thanks, Andy

HI Andy...if the piece has a good finish it can be really hard to tell what the base metal is...IE on zinc you usually expect to see some of the finish worn exposing the zinc base. John

                      Hi John,
The metal seems to be consistant all the way through. They do not seem to be "plated" (for lack of a better term). I am starting to think they look "too good" if you know what I mean.

HI Andy...keep in mind that the APB was instituted late in the war. All of the authentic APB's I have seen are made from zinc...and you would expect to see the same from the stickpins...but on the other hand since a relatively minor amount of metal (compared to a full size badge) was used to produce a stickpin it would not be unusual for a better metal to be used.

John, that was what I was thinking (ref. to the badges being made of zinc). I appreciate the help!!

The knurled pin seems right! There was a guy selling some at the SOS that I wouldn't trust but these look better! I am no expert so don't quote me on this.

                              Just my opinion
                              Steve
