I can only agree, a fine original. Too bad about the faded finish, but very typical of JFS #Badges.

Appreciate your responses.Interesting story with this badge.Obtained from vet's daughter in a cigar box along with currency and a crude knife fashioned out of a deer's hoof and an Army Paratrooper and a CCC (vetted here). She said there was also a Luger with "a long barrel" and I'm thinking maybe an "Artillary"-I got to have this! But the spouse had gotten rid of it.Why??? The vet had killed himself with it.
Best regards,Steve

Hi Snoman......
......I have a 'Frozen Flesh' medal that I picked up from one of our members...oh 11 or 12 years ago, that had some really nasty zinc pest on it. I will be posting it in the firearms section soon, pictured with a Luger(in relic condition) that a friend of mine recently gave me.
My point is that I have left it untreated with anything, since I received it, and the pest hasn't gone any further than it had by the time I got it.
I think that atmospheric conditions(translate that into humidity) make all the difference to how zinc pest spreads.
As the guys have stated...a bit of petroleum jelly, judiciously applied, will give it a 'like new' appearance; in most cases when the pest is as light as it is on your badge.
Nice badge. Is that a die flaw on the left leg of the swaz?
