    Hi

    Hi

Its a General Assault Badge. Its a type in zinc. mid to late war. Looks okey to me, but I am sure someone else can confirm this, and maybe have a opinion on a maker.

I'm with Nicolai. Definately an okey GAB from a maker still unknown. These can also be found with the half-moon base plate under the hinge assembly. Judging from the photos, this is a later production with the thinner "ali" finish. The earlier ones are copper coated for the application of a high quality, thickly applied, "brennlac" finish.

I agree it looks to be an original badge.

The badge posted here is the type classified as Unknown maker # 11, and is not found with the half-moon hinge base plate as mentioned above. Ken has described Unknown maker # 12 which is very similar.

It is interesting to see a round catch plate, can you post angled shots of the catch please.

And for comparison, please check the GAB Gallery, an example with a rectangular catch plate.

          Hi Maximus,

Very nice example, and completely original IMO. The maker of this one is still unknown, but from the same maker as the other "flatback" awards. You often see a left-facing catch on flatback badges, which is consistent with your GAB.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                  Hi Maximus

Yes sorry for that, I did not check to see that you are a member. I believe you need to be an association member to see this Gallery. Bruce has indicated the same by showing the page for association membership.

                  best regards
