      Hi Luc,

Telling us who has offered can also help in determining if this is an original or not. I was certainly one of the guys to email you, since it is my opinion this is an original and am interested in it if you are selling it. I would never give a negative comment on a badge, just to get it cheaper btw.

If Pieter V. was one of the guys to PM you, then I think it would be safe to say that this is an original Gold Presentation Clasp. Pieter has the most experience with these 1st pattern clasps, I would certainly value his opinion on such a rare clasp.

Javi, I don't have my book and files in front of me, so I can't compare the eagles. I will look tonight, but I am 100% sure they will match, its probably the picture glare and angle that is throwing you off.

      Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Hi Luc,

for what it´s worth i agree with Tom on this one. It´s a good one and like Giel said it´s a scanned photo copy.
        Regards

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

CCC in Gold with top hook

          Luc,

Here's the reverse side of my 1st Pattern for comparison.

I have owned both a 1st and 2nd pattern of this spange and can tell you that whilst the 1st pattern is not as well detailed as the 2nd, the quality is far superior!

              Hi Pieter......

              ......I don't understand this:

sorry but I'm getting fed up
Because some of us do make mistakes, while on a constantly changing learning curve, doesn't mean we're just blowing our opinions out our a$$es while waiting for the 'experts' to bow in.

...I make mistakes every day, and I do not see myself as an expert far from. I can only say I've seen and handled A LOT of things.
IMO to many original items are becomming worthless because of opinions.
Yes I do mean the 65 Kc's the "repaired" S&L die theory and so on...
And let make my self clear I do not have the intention to insult any one on this forum. Everybody has a right to have an opinion...so do I.
But using symbols like ...I would only use if i'm pretty sure of my point, and not when it comes to an extremely rare item like this First Model CCC presentation bar.
...so that's why I'm fed up....hope you understand now, and if I insulted someone it was not my intention.
                Pieter.

                  Hi Pieter......

......OK, thank you for clarifying your position. I do understand. As a matter of fact I, for one, do appreciate the knowledge and experience that you have brought to the boards here over the years.

In this particular case I see that I should have paid more attention to the section of Tom's book that deals with Gold CCC's. I certainly will be much more careful in the future.

                  Regards.

                    I think so too!

                    50 pieces
IMHO more than 50 were made......
Have a look at Stan´s example which was not awarded from Hitler himself...
                    (perhaps Guderian?)
And the awarded person received the clasp at the end of the war - and
why didn´t he get the 2nd model? So it could be that more than 50 were made and awarded....

CCC in Gold with top hook

                      Hans,

                      You are absolutely right.

According to the history of ALA KR9, Konopacki was flown from Ostpreussen to Berlin for the award of both the Oakleaves to the RK and the CCC in Gold. The PKL obviously still had a 1st pattern Spange in stock and so that is what he received.

Even if I told Luc to stay away from it, I have to agree with Pieter in this case (and some more, too! ). I was NOT offended!
Guess I judged it too fast from the blurry pictures. That it is a scanned photo is obvious and that of course made me extra suspicious. + That there are EXTREMLY good fakes of this clasp. Damn that I didn´t take photos of it (the fake), but I hadn´t any camera at the moment.
