That catch was used by a variety of makers - far too numerous to go into, though very common in the Ludenscheid area.

I thought perhaps it was to hold the solder better when applying the catch base to the badge, but was a bit off center and not used.

Glenn,

Hobacher used a similar catch on their hollow Luft Flak version.

I honestly do not know what to think about these. They will stay in the "who the heck knows" section of my book. Until there is further evidence i will not condemn them or support them (or buy them ).

Thanks for posting. I would like to see a closeup of that depression - far too small for a catchplate.
