    thanks Skip

When I saw Franki's post, I just put part of my teaching assistantship in without second thought. I'm not able to eat Red Lobster in this weekend.

Hope it will arrive its new home before next Friday.

Indy, you got lucky that Franki decided to sell his double. Most of these have now been spread over Germany. I managed to pick out most of the good ones.

Congratulations to all the hardcore PAB collectors who catch one of these nice hoard pices ( it seems that this inner circle thing works )

                Hello Harry,
Yes, the inner circle works, but this not easy work. You have to sweat a lot and sing reggae. We are now working on the cover of classic Bob Marley song: “I shot the Zorro, but I didn't shoot no moderator, no, no…”....

                  Wow, those are mint!

Any details on the "hoard"? Where it was found, who found them, etc..

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

The truly great things about this find are not the badges, although they are indeed stunning! I am thankful to have one of them.

                    1) It confirms the theory which aligned these type 1 and type 2 setups to ONE maker, namely Hobacher.

                    2) All of the included badges were of Vienna origin and there have been some "******220;******220;" marked badges like U Boats and GABs among them. Another hint that "******220;******220;" could be a Vienna based maker.

Without these things, these badges would be just some unknown maker badges and a lot of people would even have called them fake.
                    Cheers, Frank

                      Dear Frank,
And you do not think, as IAB with marks "ÜÜ", if it from Vienna should have general features with other Viennese manufacturers?

                        Dear Roman,

I think the question should rather be:

How does one close their eyes in front of the fact that at least GAB, PAB, U-Boat-Badge of "******220;******220;" do have a Viennese design? That is 3:1.

Besides, it was merely an observation that should be kept in mind: Vienna maker items found together with ******220;******220; badges. Thanks to Skip for letting me know that. These are little things that cannot serve as proof, but they are important to know and remember.
                        Cheers, Frank

OK, I´m not great on storys but I´ll outline this one.

I got a call from a guy I´ve known for years. He told me he had just come into possesion of a large amount of TR cloth and badges.
The story goes that he knew a guy who had a tailoring supply shop.Quiet a large operation.
Recently the owner died and the son inherited everything. He was´nt interested in carring on the business and wanted to sell everything off. While sorting things out they came across a large cardboard box. About the size of a large television box. Inside it was stuffed full with TR cloth badges. Many trade badges as well as Luftwaffe cufftitles, shoulder boards, collar flashes, police arm eagles, a roll of Panzer breast eagles, the same for Army. A roll of Panzer overseas cap eagles and a whole bunch of triangle eagle/cockade badges as well as lots of metal cap eagles, summer breast eagles and cockades. There was so much I really can´t list it.
Lots of this stuff was motheaten or had holes in it, a few pieces (luftwaffe cuff titles) was stiched together in bunches of five with a thin thread. A few of these badges had rusty pins with a piece of paper stuck through them. On the paper was the designation and a price.

In amongst all this was a large brown paper bag with "PanzrKmpfAbz. Silber" written in indelable pencil on the side. This bag contained about 50 such PABs with both types of setup. I had trouble recognizing the maker although I suspected Hobacher as I had a bronze example (with different setup) in my collection. As I was unsure I only bought a small sample. Non of the stuff was really cheap so I only bought the metal badges.

There was also another bag containing a few ÜÜ GABs, PABs as well as a couple of large font RS PABs. As well as that there were a few ÜÜ CAs and an UBoot which I´ve attached as a scan here.

Obviously it was a great find and without a doubt real. The guy knew what he had however and wanted to release a few pieces to people he was friends with before selling the other stuff seperatly at shows. I expect quiet a bit of this will turn up in the next months.

He also showed me the address of the company but in the suprise at seeing such a haul I forgot to note it. I´m now in the process of trying to find this out.
