And finally catch picture. I have never seen this line in the middle on other Daisy catches. However I remember similar detail from very suspicious featuring S&L design PAB’s (also with line in the middle of catch), but stupid me I didn’t saved their pictures (maybe Phil got them, so we can compare them). This type of catch and hinge and blob just doesn’t make me feel very comfortable with this badge. Bottom line is: if someone would ask me for opinion on it, I would recommend finding well known and widely accepted example...

A little bit of distress around the wheel area really more than missing perhaps in a mold sense.

It's the best I can do at he moment to show the rot around the wheel.

                Hi Guys,

Well I have never handeled a "block" hinge solid Daisy and apart from Hans's badge this is only the second one I ever saw.

Based upon the detailed pics there is nothing that screams out fake to me. The detailing is just perfect, the finish looks very good and the wear is consistant. The missing part of the road wheel can easely be explained by the zincrot that Marcus highlighted in his last 2 pics.

Like I told Marcus the only thing that worries me a litte are the measurements he posted. The width seems to be OK but the hight is more then 2mm smaller then on my 3 solid Daisy's that are all more then 61mm high. The weight also seems to be rather heavy compared to my badges.

I asked Marcus if he would be willing to send me the badge to have a closer look at it.

                KR

Excellent! I think this is the best solution here. I hope Marcus will have no problem with sending this badge to you Phil.

                      Hi Guys,

Bringing this one back to the top with a little update.

This week Marcus's Daisy that started this thread arrived and it indeed is a very good casting.

After first seeing it i was rather confident that it was ok but started to have second thoughts after Marcus posted his measurements. Although the differences in dimension are smaller than what we see on most other castings the are significant enough to disguise this badge.

Besides the above problem, the material also gives it away, strange smelly alloy that feels very smooth. This alloy probably also explains the excessive wait of this badge.

After handling this badge I can only wonder if the bad guys also made it with more common Daisy set-ups. If this indeed was the case than I wouldn't exclude that we overlooked quite some more.

IMO Hans's block hinge Daisy falls in to the same category. As far as I'm concerned original Daisy's with the small block hinge were most likely never made.

Here are the measurements of this badge compared to 3 originals

                      Marcus H 59,99 W 41,08 35,25gr
                      1 H 60,92 W 41,63 28,10gr
                      2 H 60,97 W 41,55 27,85gr
                      3 H 61.00 W 41,47 29,95gr

In the middle of two originals. Dimension wise they are almost there but the difference is still obvious.

And one last nice feature of this badge. Probably as a result of the high lead content you can always use it as a pencil to take small notes

Well, an interesting conclusion to a thread I was watching pretty closely. That bad boy is scary...........especially if they used other more common hardware setups . I never liked the finish on this one either but thought that it might have been just me or my screen.........you guys know my eyes are crappy. But the bronze finish looked almost powdery. Philippe does it come off if you rub it with your thumbs at all?

Damn it's really scary when they are getting so close.

You did a great job Philippe! (as always )
                                Kind regards,
