    Hi Philippe,
First thanks for your pictures. Second: please check your pictures marked by me in search for pronounced area.

Agree in 100%!!! Now the question is: Why would they change something like pin sharpening procedure? Also, please note how catch is mounted in to the badge! It is totally different way of the assembly (between AS in triangle and A.S.)! Guys, IMO it is time to divorce AS in triangle from A.S....

That it what I had in mind when I startedn this thread. Furthermore, I think we can say AS(triangle) is A.D.Schwerdt ans A.S. is Adolf Scholze and I base this last one of simularity of construction with RK. These companies were geographically co-located. It would be nice to see some other Gablonzer combat badges showing simular crimps/hardware to confirm this.

Now the last question for these PABs is: Are the hollow .A.S/A.S. PABs simular to the A.S. dished/semi hollow PABs shown here? Can we be sure they were made by the same company?

            Don,
It is very good point about the "maker marks distribution". A.S. for sure looks better with Adolf Scholze. Then AS in triangle was created by A.D.Schwerdt. Triangle it is Greek capital letter "Delta" .

Don & Robert, there can be no doubt that the hollow A.S. and solid AS are one and the same company and that the badges came out of the same die. To be more specific die number 2.

Die number 1 was used to make the A.S. hollow AS's both in buntmetall and zinc.

However you won't hear me conclude that AD Schwerdt is A.S.. I really wouldn't know. This info was first made public in Tuckers book but untill now, and after putting the questions in the open many times before, nobody ever came forward with any information as to what evidence this maker link is based on.

This is what die number two produced.

                Ok,
It has been a long thread...so let me collect some of conclusions here:
                1) A.S. should not be mistaken with AS in triangle.
                2) A.S. is probably Adolf Scholze
                3) AS in triangle is probably A.D.Schwerdt
                4) LW Flak badges presented in this thread were probably made by A.S. (strong hardware setup connection to A.S. PAB's only)

Guys, please feel free to add to or to edit this list.

Philippe, you are correct that we have no smoking gun that A.S. is Adolf Scholze but we have a theory. Furthermore, we have disconnected the AS(triangle) badges from the A.S. badges. We have also possibly linked the A.S. badges to the Gablonz area through production technique and materials (catches, hinges, finish). We can now look for ways to nail down the identification of the makers. Or we could ask Dion to go to Gablonz and dig through the old Adolf Scholze rubbish pile till he finds a PABs.

Great notes Don! Guys, i was dead serious when i said about "triangle" (from AS in triangle) link to the A.D.Schwerdt. Triangle it is Greek capital letter "Delta" . So there you go: AS inside letter D (). I know it sounds to easy...

                      Josef Felix and Sohn, Gablonz

Another Gablonz maker that used this reverse hardware and crimp. In fact, the catch looks very simular to the catch on the hollow .A.S PABs.

Can anyone post a non-Gablonz badge that has this style of reverse hardware? (other than the AS (triangle) PAB)
