    Eagle order merit help

    HI
I would like to know more about these two medals I have.
Both are what think is Eagle Order Merit medals.
German name is for sure Deutsche Verdienstmedaille.
    I would like to know:
    *To whom were these given?
    *Why was it given?
*How can I see difference between the two font styles that is said to exist?
I have two, one in silver and one in bronze.
    *Is there any price difference?
    *What is a reasnoble price?
    How many were produced?(approx)
I think the maker is EO, it's so small and I don't have any mag.- glass.

      Eagle order, merit medal

      Hello,

It can be frustrating to see that nobody responded towards your question but sometimes it just takes time and to give a good answer towards your questions the correct person has to vieuw it offcoarse .

I see what I can find to help you but it is in no means my field and mayby someone else is better placed to give the right answers ? => I wil search my books for it and report back from what I did find .

      Cordial Greetings,

        Some answers to your questions:

        - This order was instituted specifically to be awarded to non-Germans. It was awarded to statesmen and other dignitaries in friendly countries.

        - It was awarded for service to the Third Reich.

        - Any of the decent reference works cover all versions of the order.

        - There is a price difference between the silver and bronze versions; approximately $400 for the silver and $250 for the bronze; more if they have swords attached.

N.B. reproductions of this medal are frequently encountered.
