    Not According To Regulations!

This very interesting photo that was given to me by a very dear friend indicates a young Tropical Kriegsmarine Petty officer wearing his 1 October 1938 Commemorative Medal (Sudetenland Medal) in his buttonhole.

This award was to be worn above the breast I believe....

        Thanks for sharing Ron.
With apologies to whomever I lifted these pics from (probably on the forum), here are a couple more with the 1 October '38 ribbon worn at the buttonhole, albeit without the medal.
As stated "Not according to regulations"!

Very nice photo! But are we sure it is a Sudetenlandmedal he´s wearing? The white edges on the ribbon seems unusually wide and the centerfield seems to be ribbed/striped (don´t think that is caused by the weave)

That was the first thing I noticed when I looked at Ron's picture.
              IMO not a 1 October 1938 ribbon.

                      Perhaps so.

The Medalia Cruciada împotriva comunismului ("Crusade Against Communism medal", in reference to Operation Barbarossa) was a Romanian military award of World War II. It was instituted on April 1, 1942 by the Royal Decree No. 1014, of King Michael I of Romania.

The reverse of the photo shows a 1942 date.....
