Personally i don not posses one ( yet ) but i wil show a award document for this rare badge ( there is a very nice facsimile o the doc. ) from my collection to give you guys a tought after what im looking for

Cordial Greetings and thanks for the help ,

I have never seen one in any collection. The only one I ever saw on the market was the one that Detlev Niemann offered about six months ago. I would have boought it, but it had enamel repair on one of the gulls. Detlev had it listed for several weeks and I don't know if it ever sold.

      Hello,

Thanks Ken for the answer , i have been browsing trough Detlev's catalogue and the badge is not there anymore.

Are there any such badges in private collections ? or the award documents as this one ? , they are quite rare but there have to be some collectors out there ?

You might consider sending a msg to Sabina (sk@detlev-niemann.de) and asking her if the NSFK badge is still available, but not listed.

                excellent ; NSFK glider badges

                Hello Chris,

Excellent => this is the info that i was looking for , very nice badge + quite a early number ( OHHHH I like it ) => what is the metal used for the badge ? do you also have the matching award document ? , etc ...

                You state :
                There sould be NO variations.
, on what do you base this ? , i have seen 2 types untill now , for example the type you show here ( with recipients number ) and a more crude made type without any number ( and a round needle => it should be a so called private purchase piece ???????? , offcoarse this is dangerous because we know in most cases what private purchase means )
Do you have any sources for this statement ? , etc ... anything that you can tell me about this is very important .

Im in a phase of putting togheter award lists ( a hell of a work and advancing very slowly ) and therefore those numbers and names are very important for me .

Do you also know if this badge was intered in the personal papers ( such as Soldbuch, Wehrpass, etc .. ) i assume yes but i have never encountered one

                Cordial Greetings,

I believe that Chris is correct. There shoud always be an issue number on this badge. I would shy away from any that do not have the number. I also believe that these badges were made from zinc as they were instituted in 1942.

                          Hi Stign,

the owner of the large badge is the same guy as on the doc., I got these togeather with his Pilots Badge (early BSW) and his bronze night fighter clasp ( unmarked).
This guy served with Udet and had something to do with the Air Ministry, this is him on the left, togeather with some fat guy!!,

Here´s the results of some reseach I did, was´nt much to find out, the rest was probably destroyed.
I actually parted with all of this some months ago as it is not really my area of interest, I only kept the pilots badge.Sorry if I had known about this place earlier I would have offered it to you.

                              thanks

                              Hello Skip,

Thanks for posting the additional information => it will come in handy ( to bad for me you parted with this grouping as im in love with this stuff )

I have a list of all the awarded Silver C badges ( received from one of my Glider friends ) during period 1931 & 1943 and it is correct that nr. 439 ( the one you show ) is indeed for mr. G.Sachsenberg , Dessau => awarded on 12.08.1937

is can see that Silver C metal badge has another mark , is that the producers marking ? => if yes who was the producer ?

Are there other persons who have this large NSFK glider pilots badge in their collection ?

                              Thanks once again for sharing,
