SS EIGHT YEAR MEDAL BOX Differant colours

Can anybody out there give me an answer as to why the linings of the top and bottom of the medal box are different colours .
The top is a grey colour and the bottom is a buff colour.
Was the box issued like that or do you think they have been mixed up over the years. The box looks good to me. Any opinions please.

This example has the same color on both sides.

The case has been a bit damaged through the years....

262a, the box was not issued like that, they have been joined together at some point in time.

Should not the external textures match?. Clearly a discernible mis-match.

That was the 1st thing that told me they came together at different points of time.
