    ostfront medal original?

I've had this medal for years, but I'm still in doubt about its originality. The maker mark on the ring is very small, i think it's 93 or 33. It weighs 17 gramms (without ribbon). Is this a good one?

    thanks, Jeroen

    Looks ok too me.

A close up of the makers number would help.

Imo good original! Probably hersteller 93 Richard Simm & Söhne, Gablonz.

Looks good to me as well.

Mats, that is a great double-stamped example.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                      Jeroen:

If you happen to have Sascha Weber's book "Die Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42 (Ostmedaille), I refer you to page 140 - There is an excellent example of a 'Richard Simm & Söhne' Ostmedaille illustrated which shows a different pattern than yours.

The suspension ring is stamped with the same "93" numerals but the 'reverse' of this medal is a different pattern compared to the medal you've posted here.

Is it quite possible that 'Simm & Söhne' & others produced more than one pattern of their Ostmedailles in the life span of it's manufacturing ? Or does yours have a switched or replaced suspension ring ?

                      Ron.
