    Ribbon bar identification

    Hello,

    I need help to identify a ribbon on a bar, I have purchased. It is white with four narrow red stripes in the middle and black edges. The ribbon bar consists of three medals, an EK2 1914, a Hindenburg Cross and the medal in question.

    A photo of that ribbon exists in the WWI page of the Guide to German Ribbon Bars. (It's the 7th picture from the top, the 4th medal from the left).

    I don't know that reference, but this is the "Colonial Medal" created in 1913 for a variety of colonial campaigns going back into the 1880s.

    Without a miniature bar on the ribbon, there is no way to tell which of dozens of possible campaigns it was awarded for. If you look in the IMPERIAL Forum and enter "Colonial Medal" in the "search" box, you will find a number of threads on it.

    As far as ribbon bar information, clink on the link to the Ribbon Bar Article posted on this website: but be aware that it has many chapters, and takes a LONG time to read through, with over 300 scans. Rick
