    Fledgling new collection

Good evening gentlemen, please may I pass these medals past you. I just picked them up from a fellow member on the estand and would like to cross-check them.

Italian/German Africa Medal (with known repro ribbon)

    Medal 13th March 1938

    Medal 1st October 1938

    Westwall Medal

Winterschlacht im Osten (maker marked 13)

No disrespect to James who I bought them off but I'm trying to learn German medals and this seemed like a good place to start.

Many thanks for any help and comments.

    Cheers, Ian.

Ian, All medals you bought are perfectly fine to me You can also check the ribbon rings if they have any maker marks.

Many thanks Joseph, I was 99.99% certain but we all make mistakes so it doesn'y hurt to have a second pair of eyes over them.

I must apologise for my crappy Fujipics camera ... next time another Canon NO doubt.

Many thanks gentlemen, your opinions and kind comments are really appreciated. I'm just at square 1 with medals so hopefully there will be more to assess in the coming months.

                Cheers, Ian.

Morning Nick, I haven't actively collected anything now for years having sold all my best stuff in 1995 to pay the mortgage when I lost my job 4 days after our eldest daughter was born. Times were hard and needs must ...

Now we no longer have a mortgage and having watched the German medal prices for some time I feel many if not most have bottomed out and if buying carefully think you can't lose first and foremost as a collection but secondly as something to pass down other than the property, a VW camper and whatever the 2 girls can cash me in for.

That's a great selection. Some long service medals would fit in well too.

Thank you gentlemen, I'm stalking the estand and on the look out for a gold Mothers Cross and maybe ultimately a Memel and service medals. As I told Nick I can't see me having the degree of EK2itis that he has but I would like a representative cross-section of the range.

I promise I won't be out-bidding ANY of you on a Knight's Cross anytime soon

As I said before many thanks for your kind words.

                            Cheers, Ian.
