Police 8-Year Godet "L/50" Marked

Hello All,

I couldn't find a similarly marked example, so I thought I'd post this one for reference and comments. It is on a Parade Bar with WWI EK2, Honor Cross and this one.

For me too is the first I see marked L/50, and it is IMO an original medal. I would say it is done in the "Godet style", this make it really believable and congruent with the mm.

I hesitated to show the entire bar because the Spange looks to be an "enhancement" that I believe many on the forum consider questionable.

Now, with that said, I have owned two of these exact Spangen. The first was attached to a (WWI) Godet EK2, and now this one is attached to a Parade Bar that has a Godet medal. Maybe this revelation is something more than a coincidence that should be reconsidered...

Thanks for posting the photos. The Spange I know little about so cannot comment. The only thing that strikes me about the medals is that the first two are sewn down with thread, whereas the Police Medal is not. Perhaps it replaced an earlier Imperial Long Service Decoration.

The construction of the medal bar itself is good!

Very, very, very interesting...

I can say I also have never seen a L/50 marked Police 8 year... The eagle style is different from the 'normal' styles I am used to seeing and I would say I've never seen this style (head, chest/leg feathers, talons) before... or not that I recall.

Needs more research undoubtedly, but looks to be a nice addition!

Perhaps this photo shows the thread a bit better. It is frayed and was "tucked in" under the cornflower ribbon, but it is there. I can take a better shot when I return.

The police medal is not from this bar for sure.
The mm looks fine, but I think that the medal is not original anyway.
