Opinion on this KVK medal bar ?

    Hi

I would like to begin a medal bar collection.

That's why I would like opinions on this centered KVK medal bar on sale by a dealer.

Actualy, if the order of precedence was respected, the KVK would have been mounted 1st on the left.

I do not see any example of this non standard central position of the KVK in the book of M. Yanacek that Santa just brought to me for Christmas...

    Thanks
    Loren

Hi Loren, for me too all three medals are good and in nice condition.

        My books:

        - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
        - THE SS TK RING
        - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
        - THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
        - THE AWARDS OF THE LW

        and more!

I too have no problem with this medal bar but have a look around the tabs on the reverse to see if there are scratches as the KVK and Ost may have been switched.

          Kind regards

Hi Loren, It looks good to me... Perhaps Tom Yanacek will respond on this thread.

You are correct on what the order "should" be. I believe Tom discusses in the text that quite often medal bars were mounted in the incorrect order. Perhaps this individual thought the balance was best with the KVK in the center?

Perhaps you know this already but an Eastern Front Medal on a medal bar is somewhat rare.

            Thank you,
            Scott

Thank you very much for your opinion !
Thanks Scott I didn't know that the Estern medal was quite rare on a medal bar !
              Kind regards

Hi Loren, allow me to explain... There is a reason for it being more uncommon to see the eastern from medal on a medal bar. The medal was instituted on May 26, 1942. The war was starting to strain Germany. Its soldiers didn't have the luxury to have their medals put on medal bars. They and their families had bigger things to worry about in my opinion. Perhaps from this perspective it makes sense why its more uncommon. Personally the eastern front medal has always been one of the best looking and I love to see it on a medal bar.

                Thank you,
                Scott

If describing a mounted Eastern Front Medal I would think "uncommon" is a better word than "rare". But even saying that, it is not so hard to find examples.

                  Kind regards
