I'm not so sure. I haven't seen many 57 medal bars, mostly ribbon bars. The wound badge was worn on the bar in 57 style. The last one is the sports badge with "Olympic" ribbon. So in general, I would say, combination is possible.

I,ve never seen a wound badge on a 1957 medal bar , there is no need for it !

The wound badge would attach directly to the jacket . Also isn't the 3rd ribbon for the sprots badge which also went directly on the jacket so no need on a medal bar .

I have seen the wound badge and sports badge with those colour ribbons on ribbon bars but they would serve no purpose on a medal bar .

        I don't like it

It is a strange set up......I have seen a pic of a wound badge attached to an EKII ribbon in a ref. book - but this was some vets own setup - it could never have been worn. Still , I like the look of it.

I rather like the look of it. I think it is probably the vets own preference to set his awards up this way. Is the wound badge just pinned through the metal loop?

Perhaps he had it mounted like this because he didn't want loops or holes on his best dinner jacket and the KVK would have looked a bit odd on its own??

Thanks guys.Spange itself is wery well made as all spange from early periode WW I and WW II.One mistake is that last ribbon for DRL is positioned wrong. But spange is by my oppinion OK.Maybe some veteran want to wear medals this way and privately ordered that kind of spange????

              Who knows?

J think you are correct. This was probably made by private preference by a vet.

I personally believe that this Spange is 110% correct. With the 57er ribbon bars, you come across the badges being worn on the mini ribbonbars on a black background. This is just the full sized Spange for the mini ribbonbar. Nice one!

Can we get a scan of the reverse? I can buy the story about a vet making this up for himself, especially after seeing how US vets display their medals even today on VFW caps, jackets, etc. I just can't believe it was an officially sanctioned way of displaying a wound badge...

I agree, anything's possible with a 57 vet made up bar. And I must add, the black ribbon is a cool addition. I can imagine the conversation with the tailor.
"and what ribbon would sir like with the wound badge?"
                        "errr, black?"

How is the badge altered on the reverse?
                        regards

The guy I bought this spange from call me and tell me he found gold DRL badge which belong to this spange. Now I have full spange and I will make new scans front and back and I will post them tomorrow. But as I said previously spange is very well made but you will see by your own eyes.Anyway as I think if small spange (feldspange) is made with same colur ribons and attachments why not full spange (grossspange). And at last small and full spange ribbons are in two different sizes.Who on earth except maker of that kind of stuff will make ribon that size and make up spange to decive someone?????I think ribons and spange is OK except it was purchased privately by vet.You will also see attachment of badges on scans.Scans coming soon. Thanks again for all oppinions.

I've seen the wound badge on 57 Spange twice before this so I think it's ok.
