    Spanish Blue Division Medal- Good?

    Hello,

I am looking at this medal and see no issues. Are there any concerns? What price should I expect to pay for such a medal?

    Regards
    Paul

Nice original. This medal may be 100-120 euros. The red oxidation of the varnish is tipical in some of these made in 1944.

          Gregorio,
Do you know why the medal was varnished? Did only one company do this or was it a more common practice even though most of the medals seen are silver color?

This question is a mistery. Only 5% proximately of the medals of this maker (Diez & Cia) wore this kind of vanish on the silvering. The other have a simple silvering. Collectors in Spain look for this redish medals avidly. Nobody knows any more about why this varnished medals do exist. The other 3 makers of this medals used some varnish on the silvering never.

              Gregorio,
Thanks for the information! It is quite a mystery on the varnishing of the medal by one company and not the rest and why do it at all.
