Hello Chris,
The Austrian Occupation Medal should be silver finished over a bronze or tombak base metal. I do own a bronze Austrian Occupation Medal that never had a silver finish applied to it. This particular piece came from a Wilhelm Deumer sales sample board. The medal is marked 'L/11' on the rim of the medal not on the suspension ring. Let me know if you want me to post some pictures.

Two other members of this forum also have an 'L/11' Occupation Medal. Adrian Stevenson and stuntman. Check out this thread that I started on a Deumer EKI and EKI Spangen, that turned into a discussion of the 'L/11' Occupation Medals. There are pictures of mine on the bottom of page 1 and top of page 2. Let me know if you want better pictures and I will take some tomorrow.

Very nice Austrian Occupation Medal and LDO box. Have you checked the rims of all your other Occupation Medals yet? You know, I never ever thought of looking for a maker mark on the medal rim of an Occupation Medal. I always had checked the suspension rings and, after never finding a marking there, concluded that these medals were never marked. I stumbled upon this marked one purely by accident. Several years ago I was planning to sell the piece on ebay. I had the medal under bright light, and was taking some photos, when I happened to catch a glimpse of this unusual marking. I wonder how many other Deumer marked Occupation Medals have passed through my hands over the years and have gone unnoticed.

Did your Austrian Occupation Medal and LDO box come together as a set, or was the medal and box obtained separately? The reason I ask is because that pin-mounted medal would have usually been issued in the standard red case. The small LDO box would most likely have contained just the medal by itself, without ribbon, or the medal with a length of unattached ribbon. Still, very nice pieces.

I've checked all of the rims and rings of all of my Flower Wars medals (well over 30), and there's not a maker mark on any of them.
As to the cased Anschluss medal, the medal and case were obtained together from a dealer -- but of course that doesn't really mean that they were issued together.

My marked medal is an Oct 1938 one and also came off a sample board. As an aside I also have a Wehrmacht 4 yr long service which is clearly stamped C.E.J. on the rim near the eyelet. Never saw or heard of another. Anybody out there got a long service maker marked on the rim?
I will try and to some pics but my macro is not v good.

Here is a blurry C.E.J. For JUnker on a 4 yr long service . The space between the initials and surname is a good bit wider than between the two initials. Squint and you might be able to make it out...Comment
