Thats the makers name, F.M. Lorioli & Sons of Milan
I could be wrong here, but is it the fakes that have the makers name on the right ?
I think (he says with reservation) it should be on the left hand side.
Kind regards,
Marcus
Oh and the name at the bottom De Marchis is the designer, on the rim under the croc.

I've seen on dealers sites about these and they sell a silver version and bronze
I personaly think there is just one colour and thats bronze, the others were later made versions and were plated or bronze washed which is easily lost......hence the colour variations.
And further more I think I'm wrong about the makers name it can be either side, there is a thread concerning these; I'll try to find it.
Looking more closely I can see what appears to be traces of plate or wash on your example and the bubbling patina. I think this may well turm out ok !

Guys-
Check this thread.

Based on the info posted, I find the medal above to be highly suspicious. Sure there were non Bronze examples produced, but the lack of any finish, the maker mark on the right side and the relatively poor construction (it seems so rough) really makes me wonder about this one. I don't think I would want it for my collection.

Thats the one Brian
So Pieter in all likelyhood then the non maker marked ones could possibly be made by a different firm perhaps ?
As long as it has the designers name, could we assume for now that with considering the other factors in determination that it would be genuine ?
And that also the above medal is genuine, but a later one.
(We know fakes exist without the designers name)

I´m ambivalent to this piece. It´s marked on the right side instead
of the left and the letters aren´t the same on these two Loriolo
medals. I think it´s a bit odd that one manufacturer would make
two different dies. On the other hand, if so, that would explain
the differences. If you wanna see totally different letters, check
this thread, mainly the letter "T".

on reading the thread as indicated as a previous referance it is obvious not an easy task here. frank h states that silver ones did exist and that mm on right also ok. the fakes show many similarities also. the best thing going for this piece is the bubbling which to me shows some positive age. would any other pics help here?? if so let me know what you want and ill post. the ribbon that came with this is also aged well. has anyone any side pics of the rim and top of their pieces??
