I certainly have no problem with the Souval medals. The fact that you have one a bar would even give stronger reasoning to the contrary. Perhaps Souval only marked their private purchase pieces, or the marked pieces may be reproduction and the unmarked period pieces? Either way they were definately made using the same dies. The one you have with the "B" is very interesting! Hard to believe all the things we never notice!

    Best regards,

        Hi George,

Do the medals pictured with the podium lines to the rim and the ‘blob’ also have the two letters at the bottom edge of the rim? I’m just interested to see how many different types of Memel medals have markings.

That blow up with the reversed B looks interesting, is the marking visible with out magnification with the naked eye?

I wouldn’t be too eager at this stage to write off any medal with a ‘blob’ as repo. There has already been two different wreath finishes identified on this thread, and I’m sure everyone it happy that both types are original.

          Souval medals

          Hello,

Very interesting indeed => I have checked my L/58 marked " Memel " medal and it also has the reversed B ( or Blob as you preffer ) as well as the podium lines running towards the rim.

I must check my other flower war medals but I have no problem with the L/58 ( Souval ) maker marked flower war medals concerning originality.

            Clarifying confusion....?

Gee -- I only have a blob and podium lines on one Anschluss medal -- no wreath on the reverse. But my two Memel medals with the letters under the wreath have no blob or long podium lines. Is the marking visible without magnification with the naked eye? I think it's just barely visible without magnification. (Unfortunately, I am no longer at the age where I look at too much close-up with just the naked eye. )

Stijn -- I think the blob and the reverse B are two different phenomena -- or are they? I'd like to see the "B" on your Memel medal.

I just got this memel medal today. It has podium lines running to the rim. The blob between the flag and the figures. It is made of brass. It is unmarked. The ribbon has faded on the obverse. Just to add to the database of memel medals. (The colour of the photo's makes it look a bit green it is not this colour to the naked eye).

Any chance of a blow-up of the blob on your medal too?

                    Memel medal maker's mark

I recently purchased a Memel medal from a supposed vet estate
auction in the Midwest USA.There is a mm of L/18 on the medal rim to the righrt of the hanger Ring as you face the figures side of the medal. Also. it came with a short section of the 16mm ribbon. Any ideas/ is it good or ?Thanks

                      Occupation medals, etc ...

                      Hi David,

Is it possible to show a picture of your recent aquisition ? as without it is impossible to say anything regarding originality, etc ...

Feel free to send it towards me if you do not have the picture posting ability yet : e-mail : theodorscherer@hotmail.com

I dug this old thread up on Flower Medals. Some good info especially on the Memel. I see a couple examples in the preceeding pages with cases. I thought there was no documented Memel cases Or were there simply put into 1 March cases for show?

                          Marked L/11 1.Oktober 1938 Medal

I have this example of a Sudeten medal (acquired in 1995), ostensibly from a salesman board. The white in the ribbon lit up under a black light, but I liked it any way.
                          For your perusal.

I had a fake Czech Occupation medal like Seba's fake 'big nose' Memel medal that had a '13' on the ribbon ring.

                                Regards ...
