    Hi Mike,

I would say the Spanish Civil War Campaign Medal.

    Best regards,
    Tom

          Agree!

But why are these holes in the ribbon - there should be no device, IMHO? Is it just fraying from the holes punched in the metal tab?

            Hi Valter,

The Germans seemed to like adding devices where ever possible! There would have originally been a swords device on this ribbon bar.

There are numerous examples in this excellent thread:

Indeed, the Spanish did not authorize a swords device on the combatant ribbon, but the Germans often applied them anyway.

Thanks all, I would have never thought of the Spanish Civil War medal.. I am not sure why the swords are missing but yes they both have holes in the ribbons. These are a first for me. Learn something new every day! Thanks from an Imperial collector! Mike

No swords device is needed since the black stripes at the edges means 'for combatants'.
                  For no combatants are green.

                  Rgds.

Gentlemen, thank you for explanation! I didn't think about "unofficial" swords.
