Heer/Luftwaffe 18 Yr. Service Crosses

These 2 crosses are from my collection of long service awards.

It's interesting to see the difference's in not only the 18 year service but the other levels as well.

The two 18 year crosses look the same but they are not.

The one on the left is a non magnetic cross but the eagle is magnetic.

The one on the right is a magnetic cross but the eagle is non magnetic.

You never know what you are going to get until you put a magnet to them.

I guess the maker's drew from a pile of manufactured pieces and put whatever was on hand into the packets.

Is there any proof around that would indicate that the non magnetic crosses were of a later manufacture than the iron ones?

One other thing while think of it.

Sometimes the ribbon rings are soldered and other times they are not.
