Ribbon bar with an Italian decoration

    Dear forumites,

My brother found this nice ribbon bar at the Novegro Militaria show (Milano, Italy). The unusual thing about this tiny bar is the light blue ribbon bar and its ribbon bar device at the end which stands for a "Italian Silver Military Medal for Bravery" (very rarely given to German Afrikakorps front fighters). This decoration was considered to be quite a high bravery distinction. Please notice also the detail that the tailor who put together this ribbon bar didn't find a 15mm wide Italian light blue ribbon and used a 20mm wide one. The dark blue ribbon for the long service medal of the Luftwaffe (4 years) is over lapping the Italian ribbon.

I think this ribbon bar belonged very likely to a German pilot (officer) fighting in Nothern Africa.

Please feel free to make comments on it or to post your Italian ribbon on German bars...

    Ciao,

    Claudio

Very nice. I do like the ribbon bars with foreign awards.

Very nice indeed. I just picked up a nice Al Valor Militare in silver to a german soldier from Detlev a couple of weeks ago. I was also surprised at the number of u-boat and S-boat officers who were awarded this bravery medal.

        Regards,
        Terrence
