    Another Memel....

    Hi guys, here a Memel I bought some month ago from a WAF member.
    For me it's a good one. Any opinion is appreciated!

    It looks bad but better (brighter) pictures is needed, these are to dark.

      Agreed.

      In my opinion not good.

      A's, M's, open 9's in the date are what you would expect to see for a copy.

      Better brighter pictures would tell for sure.

        A lot of maker did the Memel. Not only one.
        However if for you it's a copy not problem...
        I simply waste my money buyin' this here in the WAF market.

        PS: Can I see a fake like this please? Just to compare...

          Not a good one IMO, sorry.
          The M's, S's, 9's, A/Ä and the G are typical of a non original Memel.

            E-Stand is not 100%. Study the item before you buy or post a thread about estand item if you are not sure.

              Sorry, I have to completely disagree.

              Here the same picture, you can see that is NOT the same medal. Very big difference, in definition, ecc ecc. (I evidenced only few) and you cannot compare two different medals for judge id it's a fake or not.

              I take the words of other members:

              There was more than one Memel medal manufacturer, and that there is considerable variation among them, especially when seen under high magnification. This is one medal that cries out desperately for good systematic research based on known originals. I definitely understand the feelings of collectors who stay away from everything except the consensus pattern, but I suspect some perfectly good originals are being erroneously dismissed.

              I firmly believe that there are other types that were issued other than the slanted G.
              Some are downright awful fakes where others could go either way.

              Please guys, if you say "not good" explain why, and show another one as mine.

                  Of course you are gonna take the words of other members, no one like to hear that there stuff is bad, but it dosent change the fact that it looks bad. Cant you return it to seller if it is bad?

                  Please take better picures and maybe some close ups aswell.

                    Hi Peter, it's since 20 years I collect and study the german militaria.
                    Sometimes I like to seems a "stupid" or a "beginner" to hear other opions, but as I always said, if you gave an answer you have to explain and support what you say. Without support for me an answer is simply "air".
                    The Memel is not a full studied field, and is not so simple as the most part of collectors believe.

                    I bought fakes, as we all did, no one start collecting militaria without waste some money. This is not a problem.
                    I bought this medal because for me it have all the characteristics of an original one: design, definition, edges... Only little differences but also very far from fakes I handled in all these years (if you look up you can see a lot of differences in front and also in back side between the examples posted to compare).

                    Tomorrow if I'll have time, I'll post some better pics.

                        You seem to be very vocal when it comes to Memels. Care to share your knowledge as to why the above pictured medal is a fake?

                          Here is one I posted a while back. As much as I tried to find out why I was never able to say why it is a fake. No explanation from posters saying fake either.
                          Didn't pay a whole lot for it so no great loss for me but would love to learn if there are any hard facts behind it or just a hearsay being repeated over and over.

                            I've studied these medals for some time.

                            My reasons are given in a previous post.

                            Along with another member who knows these medals better than I do.

                            This one is a fake.

                            It also looks as it has been artificially aged.

                            Search the forum for memels and you'll see that it is a copy.

                              Gook work Matt.
                              I studied the Memels, and I posted one of mine here, the only one I have "out of rules", after compare it with a lot of originals. This kind of Memels have all the possibilities to be originals.
                              I'm bore of all the answers "Fake" without knowledge, it's time to change the rules.

                              This one is the same of another I saw on a vet group, have high definition, the same was sold some years ago from Niemann, etc etc... And we say simply "fake"... WHY?!? Where I can find some info about?!?
                              This is very far from the known fakes.
