Evening all. I was admiring my admittedly very small collection the other night and realised that the only piece I had never sought any advice on at all (not so clever) was the first piece I bought. This was an 8 year SS long service medal. With hindsight I think the medal itself looks ok to me (minute but clear cobbling effect etc), however the ribbon is a bit suspect.
It is what seems to be the correct dark blue, ribbed material I have seen in many pics. However it is only about an inch long and is square in shape, not tear dropped. Also the back of the material has had a square piece of metal sewn under a piece of black cloth, which obscures the hinge. The material could have been shortened and adapted perhaps? Anybody want to comment?
Sorry I don't think I can post pics as my membership cheque has not been processed yet.
