50 year faithful service award

Hi all, I just picked up a cased 50 year faithful service award as well as a cased 18 year police faithful service award. The 50 year is in the red leatherette case with the gold embossed 50 and wreath on front. It has a red (maroon) velvet finish inside and is stamped Deschler and Sohn, Munchen on the inside. The case is in very good condition with some wear to the outside and some stains.

The 18 year police is in a gray case. in good condition. Any ideas on what the current values are?

I've recently seen cased 50-year Faithful Service Crosses that ranged in price from $225 to $450.

I think $450 is a bit too much.

Recently I have bought one cased in very good conditions for € 300 ($270) and it's his price. It's a rare case and medal too and there are good fakes of medals ( of case's there aren't fake around ) but You cannot pay more of $ 350.

Every medal and case as far as I am concerned has been faked including the 50 year case. There is a company in the UK which specialises in reproduction cases and I am sure it is on the list.

I agree top price should be about $250 to$300

of course we can find every type of medals and cases in reproduction's maker in Asia or in Europe, but I refer about the fakes made for sell to be originals.

I have no informations there are fakes of this case.

I would like to know if isn't true.

There is another big company in Europe that is also producing repro cases have not got the details.

Nick, There are fakes of this case only made in recent time. No fakes made from 1945 till 1990.

I don't believe these are fakes. The guy I got them from I trust and he gave me a lifetime return policy. He got them from a collection in Canada about twenty years ago. At the same time he got four cased SS awards, that he sold (to what he called a big time collector) in Texas. This guy spends summers in Maine and winters in Oklahoma. I will get some pics of them but if anyone wants to see them I'll have to send them Email.

I paid 300 for both awards.

I have to agree with Ivan on the 50-year faithful service cross. Case looks identical to 25s and 40s that I have seen. I have never handled a 50 year piece before, but it does look good.
