URGENT: Memel Medal Real/Fake?

Hey all, sorry to post this thread with such urgency, but I have the chance to return this medal today in the next few hours before the Militaria Show here in Ottawa ends.

It is a Memel Medal and I paid $200 CDN for it. The ribbon has that sheen to it and no it does not glow un UV.

It looks good to me but as I said your opinions are needed greatly!!! Thanks to all!!!

I´d say run fast! The "m" i Memel looks to curved to be good.
Just my two bits. Maybe you should wait for more opinions.

Peter, thank you for this quick response! George also commented that the medal looked a bit off as well and thanks to the two of you I have returned this medal and saved my cahs for the real stuff!

There was a very long thread on these a few weeks ago...not sure that any firm conclusions were reached. The general opinion seemed to be that the one you show is a fake although I did email photos of a similar one to Detlev who did not seem too concerned about it. I guess you are right to be cautious and you were right to turn it down.

Terry, you are absolutely correct! I tried to look up the past photos, but I could not find any from older threads. Do the pics get removed in older posts?

Thanks again and like I said, while I really wanted this medal, I did not want it bad enough to own a fake one

Oh well, I guess I will have to keep my eyes open. If anyone else has any for sale let me know. I will put a wanted ad in the wanted section in a while looking for another.

After closer inspection, I am very happy to have returne this piece. The "G" also bothers me. In the known originals it seems to abnormally curve in while in the one I had it was a typical G
