Wound badge L24

Would you know the value of the L24 .In all three grades? I have seen a picture
of a black one

Is not so easy to find WBs by this maker, in the last years i have seen examples for sale from dealers with 'normal' price, arround $80 USD for silver examples, gold WB i saw one lately in online auction for $220 USD!
I have only the two i saw in the pic's in my collection, the one is coming from a veteran document group and the other i took it from Herr Baldes few years back for 80DM, if i remember well.

Don, do you have the pic of the black WB? I'm interesting to see it because i've never seen "L24' in black grade, it is hollow version?

Yes I have a picture . The same as silver and gold with a coke pin. I will

Hi Don,

That sort of looks like a silver grade zinc badge that has lost it's finish and darkened with age. Can you tell if the silver remains on the reverse bottom rim edge or around the hinge/catch is a plating?

That is a fine badge there. If you wish to post more pictures go for it. Mike.....
I have sent the owner a note asking more information. Looking at the front
looks like paint to me. Only my opinion

Got note back from the owner. He states it is paint. Period or present not
sure.

I have to agree with Mike, from the pics it looks like a silver WB and lost all his finish, i can see some traces of silver paint on the front(helmets edge) and on the back too. Look to the one i posted, he lost almost all his paint because washed with silver paint and is not uncommon for the WBs by this maker to lost their finishes. The other i posted it is silver - nickel plated and i think this is the reason for the paint staying with great amount on the badge.
On the other hand the owner has better opinion.
Anyone else to comment?
One observation Don, I 'm seeing a trace of black paint on the hinge, am i correct?

Looks like black paint on hinge to me. I explained to the owner what was going
on and asked him to have a good look at badge and his reply was paint. The
owner has been collecting for some time.
