Bravery Award for Soildiers of Eastern Nations

I understand the reason why Hitler esatblished the Bravery & Merit Award for Soildiers of Eastern Nations but why is it do you think he/they left off the Swastika? With the Nazi being so impressed by themselves they felt compelled to put it (the Swastika) on every other type of medal, why not this one?

Nice observation but not quit correct , keep in mind that the eastern people awards where not the only ones without the swastika => another award is the Drivers Profiency Badge !!!!! ( it was even designed by a SS man !!!!!!! ) , some non portable Luftwaffe awards ( Luftwaffe Honor Shield for special merit in the battle of Crete) , etc ... so indeed most of them bear the swastika but some of these things simply do not.

Hi stijn,

most of the Ostvölker were non-christians, so it might be the same reason like with old imperial orders with special decorations for non-christians. The muslims had some problems with wearing something with a christian or other religious symbols, so were created special decorations for them.
Or A.H. wanted to save the swastika for the "Arier"

Thanks for the Info, indeed that practice was known towards me regarding non christian people but where does this theory leave us with the above mentioned examples for the drivers profiency badge, etc ??? +> any toughts ???
