From what I can see of the case, I think it's a modern case (ie a reproduction). It looks like those from a firm in England that specialise in reproduction cases (Muller Militaria, I think).

It would be useful if others would chip in here because I'm not an expert, just trying to help out. In that sense, please seek a second opinion as I'm going on a few pictures and that in itself just isn't enough to certify the case either way.

If you can, it would be useful if you could post a pic of the inside, with the lower insert out, and a full shot of the case open.

      Hello,

I agree with Richard your case looking to be a newly made case from England or Germany.
Originals cases can be found in black with cream colored flocking
with the button opener (like EK 1 kl.)

By the way your wound award looking to be an unmarked badge from the Steinhauer & Lück firm.

        Hey, Rich and Chris
here are some more scans quality on a couple cr*p rest alright . still can't get use to the digi camera. but, sure is quicker than the stone ge way.

As you can see there is the clear adhesive

        Next

nice clean pine wood by the looks of it

        the hinge

        finally ...the catch

Disappointed about the case but here you can't win them all ...I was after the badge anyway.

        Regards
        Bill

The case is definitely a repro. But the good news is the badge is OK.

            Rich,

Thanks for that as soon as I pried up the insert I had a feeling it was a repro as the clear adhesive was the give away.

Rich, if you want the case you can have it . If not, would anybody else like it, it goes into the trash can.

            Regards,
            Bill

Thanks for the offer Bill, but I have no need for it.

                fake LDO case

                Hello,

INteresting topic, Stacie is it possible to send the case towards me => i would really like to hold it and compare it to original cases , after i have done it i can send the case towards another member .

Mayby we can work out something here with reprostuff here in sending ( with agreement of the involved partie's ) these things towards the members ( these members do agree after examination of the piece in question in sending it towards another interested person for the examination , they can examine them forthemselves and forward it then towards other persons +> this can be a good learning tool ??? ( just a suggestion )

                Greetings,

                  G'day Stijn,

                  Please access your PM.

BTW, I totally concur with your post. I too, would like to see more co-operation in regards to repro's and fakes.

As I said in the PM, you are now the custodian of this peice, will send it to you on Wednesday should take 7- 10 days to arrive in Europe.

                  Regards,

                    working togheter

                    Hello,

Thanks Stacie, im alos a forestander for more cooperation in the consensus against fakes, after i received the case from you who is the next on the list toiwards whom i forward this case ? ( it would be a good thing if this happened more in the collecting comunity , so much more collectors could see ( and smel ) for themselves fakes, etc ...

Offcoarse we should have some sort of code in this matter, the item must been held in the best possible way, the urrent owner is responsable etc ...

One point and mayby a future strenght for the wehrmacht association is that one has to be a paying member before one can be added to the list for receiving the fake to examine it himself !!!

any more suggestions in this can be very helpfull so please help us with this.

                    Thanks and Greetings,

                      That is....

...in my opinion, a great idea. Like having our own library service but....by mail.

I am also in agreement that this is something that should be for members only. As a member of the forum(s) benefits like this make membership a more exciting prospect.

Why don't we restart this thread over in the members only forum?

Over there we can discuss some other issues, concerning this idea, that may be helpful to making this a practical and workable endeavor.

                      --------------------
