Stone mint TDB on E-stand

I am sorry to say that I do not agree with your statement on your TDB being stone mint.

In my opinion the cloth backing is not original to this badge. My thought is that this is a replacement and therefore hardly mint. This weave type cloth looks alot like the cloth backing used on reproductions or 1957 types.

Other than this the badge looks okay to me.

sorry, but why should someone take off the old cloth and should stick a repro cloth on this mint badge?

Hi Stefan,

I have never seen a pre 1945 made TDB with this type of cloth but I have seen them without the cloth and without any glue residue.
There maybe 100 reasons why someone would add or replace the cloth with this weave but I am sure it has been messed with.

this is not difficult to see, you made some great pictures. Another example to identify period cloth is the typical weave of the Kreta cuff-title.
Anyway I do find it safe to say that the only cloth used on authentic pre 1945 made TDB's were either green canvas or wool in various colours and not the cloth you have on your badge. I base that on my own experience with these and that I trust too.

if you dont trust Detlev or Frank, so what will be original?

Everybody has his own opinion but only one option is true.

It is easy to say, I dont think it is original.

But Frank is a collector, who explains his meaning.

For me is the badge 100% original.
