    Hi
I would like some opinions please on these two medals. I have no idea if either is ok but I am concerned about what looks like a seam to the medal on the left. Let me know what you think
    thanks

        Andy,

There has been alot of debate over these variations. Much like the Mussert Cross, Memel Medal etc.

That being said, the one on the left is the type that MOST feel comfortable with. The one on the right not so much.

THAT being said, I don`t have a problem with either. In fact, there is a 3rd variation with maker mark on the right side of the pendent.

These two you have ... I have no problems with

I'm now studying these with an eye to adding one to my collection. In regards to ribbons, I understand there are many post war ones attached to original medals. I understand blacklight is no longer a solid way to tell original from postwar so what indicators are there that a ribbon is original?
I have heard that the green on originals tends to be very faded?
            Thanks in advance.

I believe I've seen some original medals attached to post war Italian made faded green ribbons as well.

The color is never a good indicator of originality alone.

The below two are both original The zinc one a Vet bring back when he spent time in Italy before being transferred to France.

I've seen ribbons that are so faded, the green has turned to a yellowish color.

Hi Johnnie, this advice is useless other than when holding a ribbon in hand, but every repro ribbon I have felt feels hard and stiff compared to a real one. They just don't feel "right".

While we are talking about these medals, what is a fair ballpark price for one of these (not zinc) in good condition like Andy's but with a repro ribbon attatched? I was over a friends yesterday and he might be selling it to me.

                      Cheers, Ade.
