1944 9th Artillery Bravery Honor Award Plaque
A German collector and speaker said the inscription was not period and the grammar was wrong. The medallion and wood look good to me but when I take a close look at the dedication even I don't like it anymore - the damage to the wood on the right side of the plate is evidence it might have been added later.
Questions:
1) Does the aluminum plate look period or not?
2) What is wrong with the grammar on the plate?
3) What about the medallion and wood?
Stained black 25x15 cm wood plaque, hanger on back, 12 cm silvered pot-metal medallion of an 88 mm artillery gun with a six man crew slightly bent on left side, maker "HB," aluminum plate translation: "To the 9th Artillery for Bravery, 1944, Wehrmacht High Command - Berlin."
