    Ribbon Bar

    Hi,

I've got a photo from a soldier with ribbon bar.

The left one is an Ost-Medal (I've got the Medal too. I bought it once. Picture + medal) But on the right is also an bar and it is like this one:

The outsides are also white. and this /\ looks like this: || || if you keep it straight but it isn't straight.

I can post the picture but you won't know more then.

I know this is very difficult but hopeful you ppl know enough.

    Thanks in Advance. :-)

          Hi Dennis,
The "|/\|" that you refer to, is the light reflecting off the moiré silk ribbon...also known as "watered silk".

              Hi,

Soldiers were assigned to the West wall for a variety of reasons as well as laborers.

As has been mentioned the wavy effect of the ribbon (silk moire) is created when the ribbon is compressed by a roller with an engraved pattern which is imparted to the ribbon.

By the widths-definetly a west wall medal. These were handed out to many troops in the wall area @ 1939-40 who worked on the defenses. i have two separate paper lots where these were awarded to a Wehrmacht Hptmn dR and an NCO ( medical/signals) who were in the wall area in 1939/40. Also, these were awarded to entie RAD untis that worked on the wall.
