          Andre,
That is one fine looking medal bar. You don't see the Italian Afrikan service medal that often.

            Hi,

I have several Stempel Reich medal bars and they are usually of very good quality. This bar appears to be of the same quality as I woudl expect to see from Stempel Reich. As has been mentioned previously, medal bars with the Italian Afrika medal on them are scarce/rare. Due to the trapezoidal suspension of the Afrika medal, medal bars which have this medal on them use varying methods for attaching the medal. Most common attachements seen are single rings with the more elaborate method using rings and sewing to prevent the medal from slipping to a canted position when in wear.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't the Afrika medal fall into official disfavor

during the TR era and was not suppose to be worn?

                  Very nice looking bar!

Also, (to add to Darrell's response), this was due to Italy capitulating to the Allies.
There was also an order given by Hitler that any & all Italian troops fighting with or under German command be shot, an order that wasn't really followed by those commanding in the field.
                  Regards,
                  Chris
