Its an eastern front medal given to troops who served (obviously ) on the eastern front. It has a nickname of the frozen meat medal as well. I would say yours in fair condition. Its a nice medal to start a collection with. Hope that helps.

Hi Wolfgang welcome to the forum , as already said by Andy the medal is a Rusian front medal awarded to service personnel who served of the Russian Front. The reverse translates roughly into "War in the East" really translates into "winter battles in the east". The soldiers who recieved this award gave it the nickname of the medal of Frozen flesh award as apart from the high losses in combat the loss of men to frostbite was on a par. Hope this is of some help. A nice starter.

P.S looks like it may have a little Zinc pest (white fluffy stuff) needs a little treatment with vasoline.

Editied once again for poor spelling.

As someone told me when I posted my first medal, be careful Wolfgang...one medal or badge leads to two...two lead to twelve...and so forth!

Very nice Ost, and a great addition/beginning for your collection. Welcome aboard!

Nice start to a collection. Warn your bank manager - things from now on can get a bit expensive. Let's hope you're not married.
