Marc: I'm copying this from SS Cloth into the General Wehrmacht Awards Forum too, ribbon bars and medal bars go in there even when political.
From what I see, the SS runes look good:
Can you make a close-up of them? If you run a finger tip over the runes, does it feel smooth, or rough like a file? Is there a distinct upright space between the designs of mock embroidery between the two runes?
The NSDAP 25 also looks good-- all we ever see are the Ohio faker's gold painted 15 year devices.
I am delighted: aside from Mark Schroeder's, this would be only the second ORIGINAL "25" and with my SS bar shown on the Ribbon Bar Article, also only the second ORIGINAL runes I've ever seen... in 35 years!Comment

Hello All,
I have tried to send the high-resolution pictures too Tony B. but his provider would not take them. I finally found a way to do it myself but I’m loosing lots of quality.
This is the uniform the bar came with.
Unfortunately I have no name and the provenance is not traceable.
It comes from a old French collection who’s owner died a couple years ago and the children where selling the stuff. He was specialised in Political items and most of the pieces where untouched original items.

I had posted a view of my runes not used in the Article over in the copy of this thread in the General Wehrmacht Forum (wasn't sure if these SS guys would let us get away with ribbon bars as "not cloth"!
)
So here it is again, to compare with your ribbon bar, which I like very much. The finish on both of our runes is a bit splotchy from age and wear, but these are STRUCK devices, not cast like the millions of fakes. The angles are regular, the "braid" runs true to the angle of the runes, and the ridges should feel smooth, not rough like a file. Notice also the very plain line in the middle separating the two runes.
No doubt the Next Generation of fake crap will try duplicating these
moremad , but since these are the only two I've seen in 35 years I'm happy with... finding the mass produced ones by the dozen at shows and the usual auction dumping grounds should be a statistical probability tipoff. The Ribbon Bar Article on the other half of this website shows the two most common sorts of fake SS runes.

The most common kind of fake. Compared to the above... there is no comparison!
Note the casting pits (every one of these I have seen has the same identical pitting), no separation between the runes, and the flat rune ends. These are often now hand filed irregularly on the ends to try and get the slight angle at the tips. These feel rough, like a nail file when you rub them with a finger tip.Comment

These are fairly recent fakes, and may have been cast from an original example somewhere.
Note the botched attempt at the flat gap between the two runes, and the badly mangled hand snipping/filing at the tips of the runs. These cast fakes also feel rough like a nail file when rubbed.Comment
