my friend finally gave me meassurements and here they are:

tank: 43.5mm x 18.5mm
band: 28mm width.

The edition of Internationale Militaria Magazine that features the Tank Destruction Badge says that the originals had three pins attaching it to the back plate while the 57 models had only two. I used this rule to authenticate a very nice, but leider anno 1957 badge in my collection. Thought this might help.

Silver Tank destruction Badge

I have posted two pictures of a 'variant' as posted on every site on the web - or a really bad and obvious reproduction.

I would love to have feedback from the participants on this string before I return the badge to the store where I purchased it.
