Hi Glenn, the only example I have ever seen is in the book "Rommel's Army in Africa". I expect this is the photo you have already seen? Sorry I can't help further?
    Cheers, Ade.

This sketch is compliments of Otto Spronk. He passed the information that it is shown it in the headgear series Volume One page 99 under the chapter Traditions and Special Units cap-badges. He said that he has never found a photo of this metal insignia in wear.

        Probable or a wild Guess?

I hate to bring up the "paris Connection" again, but I was in one of the less reputable dealers shops in Paris about 7-8 year ago and saw the dealer discussing one of these with a friend of his.

They agreed that the metal version was post war, and seemed very interested in if they could find any faults with the example they were looking at (as far as quality goes).

I took that to mean that they were planning to sell them.

unfortunately I only heard snatches of the conversation (although I was starining my ears) but it was enough to allow me to form an opinion on that dealer and his stock.

          HI guys,
Yes I have only seen 2 pics of this ,one in the rommels army in Afrika and the other is for sale at the 'Wietze'site under Army awards if anyone is interested in looking at it.They are definatly different in design to each other and one is in a silver finish. The Rommels Army book also states that it was worn on the brest pocket and others state on the field cap(as I believe it would be).
From what I can gather the SV288 did not grow in size over the course of the campain so it seems strange to me that the Metal badges are so much rarer than the BeVo arm patches.
That is of course if they are not total fabrication right from the start!!!
Which brings me to my next question, what is a BeVo SV288 arm badge selling for and does anyone know of any for sale at the mo?
          Thanks Glenn.
