    Ribbon bar???

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I have never seen this type of attachment on Flower War bars before. It kind of looks like something that would have been produced as part of the 1957 series, but the image shows covered swastikas. Any ideas?

These miniture devices were used during the war, however they are quite rare and desirable. Have a look in the devices gallery of the Ribbon Bar Article for some more pictures of some of these devices.

      WARNING

Beware of the device on the EKII . . . it looks to be marked '1914' on the bottom. This was a post WW1 addition on some 1914 EKIIs.

It looks to me somebody tried to make this bar more desirable

        Hello David

I have fiddled around with the image to try and enhance the EK device and it appears to be 1939, not 1914. The detail on these devices appears to be consistent with others I have seen.

I think the mini EK on the EK2 ribbon bar is pretty cool. However, I am quite intrigued by the Anchluss medals, specifically the Memel medal. I don't see too many Memel ribbon bars around, so I would think this particular example (with medallion) is especially rare.

Dez - Have you seen these Anchluss bars with attachments before?

I saw a Sudetenland medal bar with the round medal device, but I couldn't figure out why. I mean, the ribbon itself denotes the award. It seemed redundant.

              I just remembered....

Here's a Sudetenland buttonhole ribbon with the round device.

              Redundant.

..just wait till I get home and I will show you some devices. As for this bar; I have never seen the 1939 EKII device on a ribbon bar, that of course does not mean it was not worn. I don't particularly like to detail on the Memel miniature. I will post some when I get home.

I have seen the Sudetenland device before, but never the Memel medal device.

Here is an image of some of the miniature devices that I have. I am still looking for a Anschluss miniature for the two place ribbon bar. Both devices were once removed. The whole is still visible. I am unser about that Memel miniature though, it is kind of roundish, but I am not an authority. Rick?

I assume from the eBay fig leaves this is for sale someplace and hasn't come home to live with you yet, Brian?

Good scans without the squiggles would be nice.

Never have seen a WW2 mini-EK device like this, continuing the mainly Saxon 1914 EK fad. No reason for those minis, no reason for the Flowers medals minis either.

I've seen the Sudeten used on ribbon bars, including sometimes the mini medal with the Prague bar, but oddly enough, never (well, so far!) the AUSTRIAN Anschluss mini. ***

If this one DOES come to live at your house, would appreciate a good unobstructed scan of the mini WW2 EK. It is not something I've seen on the mass produced fraud bars, so my basic reaction is it may indeed be a continuation of the pointless "Saxon" fashion.

*** Wups, simultaneous posting with Erich. NOW I've seen an Austrian mini!

Anybody got one of the Westwall Medal on a ribbon bar? We've seen a couple of those in wear in photos, but I've never seen one "in the flesh" yet.

...here is a photo of both of the devices 'im Einsatz'.

I think the six or seven of us need our own private Forum, just for reebon barz freaks! That's one I'd like to use in the updated Ribbon bar Article, Erich!

You know, if you hadn't blown up the ribbon bar, the way this style distorts stripes and actual designs, I'd have just assumed these were the NSDAP 15 and 10, not thought any more about it... and then the back of my mind would have started worrying about what such a young guy was doing with THAT much pre-1933 Party seniority!!!

Now if only we could find one of these old veterans and find out WHY they wanted those mini devices on there!!!!!

We're on a roll here tonight, folks!!!!

Need a new thread for it, but got any photos with the RAD 1940 long service minis being worn?
