Here is a nice photo of two officiers. The shoulderboards of the one of the right reads 41 (IR 41? What division was this with?)

Can anyone identify all the awards on the ribbon bar?

I just got this foto. I REALLY like it. Might there be a way to track the one man on the left. He is a Hauptmann. Very nice uniform!

This late in the war he could not be only a Hauptmann if he was an (E) retread from WW1.

So, what I think is: he was a career NCO in WW1, and has properly "updated" his old XII for the Wehrmacht 12 and 4, while he is all but certainly a Hauptmann der Reserve.

I can't get that WWI award either, but from the stripes and swords, suspect it may be one of the medals with swords from Waldeck or Reuss. The very last ribbon is probably the Bulgarian WWI Commemorative with swords, which means the next to last is probably the Hungarian WWI, but I simply can't tell.

I don't think he is infantry-- the piping on his soutache and collar tabs looks medium-dark.

The NCO argument makes sense!

I also cannot imagine a career officer as captain in his high 40ies.
