    Nordic SS proficiency badge

I have seen this SS proficiency badge on Ebay and decided to let the seller know that in my opinion it was fake, I wouldn't want anyone spending $900 on a repro piece. Nor would I want an honest seller thinking he was selling the real deal.

I was wondering if anyone would corroborate my opinion or am I wrong. Also does anyone know of Mr Whitman and Mr Johnson? Are they indeed world renowned authorities?

THX FOR YOUR OPINION- MR WHITMAN AND MR JOHNSON HAVE BOTH CONFIRMED THE AUTHENICITY OF MY PIECES YEARS AGO AT SHOWS- I GUESS THE 2 MOST WORLD RENOWNED AUTHORITIES ARE WRONG? I THINK NOT! BUT THX FOR YOUR OPINION!

    THX FOR LOOKING AND BIDDING....

Unfortunately I am almost 100% sure that this is fake, these badges were never marked on the reverse with an RZM mark. Also the runes should be attached with sigrunes that should show on the reverse of the badge. Sorry to break the bad news like this.

        NO "WORLD AUTHORITY", BUT.......

That bAdge is a 1000% reproduction. Here is what the reverse of an original badge looks like. PHOTO COMPLIMENTS OF FORMAN'S GUIDE TO THIRD REICH GERMAN AWARDS...AND THEIR PRICES.

With all due respect to Mr. Whitmann and Mr. Johnson IF they said that this badge was original they are wrong.

In my humble opinion Mr. Stump is right on. That badge is junk. It looks like the fakes that came out of California in the late 60's early 70's. Besides that I think Whittmann and Johnson are more into edged weapons and less into badges, etc. Hope this helps.
          Regards,
          Dick

The badge is a copy, there is no doubt. I am suprised that the two named experts would make this mistake

              As stated above 100% copy.
Originals were NEVER marked, last time I saw originals sell they went for the 2 - 3k price range.

I don't think Whittman or Johnson would bless any rare badge outright, especially this one. This is hearsay on the sellars part. These men are published experts in swords and daggars. I am sure they are well informed on many badges but I have my doubts that they would bless this one. Just my two cents worth and it's also an opinion.

Gary is right, I think this guy bought the Runes as original, realises now they are sour and is trying to offload them onto someone else, this is reflected in the price and the wild story accompanying them.
