Excellent closeups! Can you do the General's face that big? And is that just the end of a Generalmajor's board, or the pip of a Generalleutnant?
The Oberst is wearing as ribbon bar: EK2 '14 with Spange (incorrectly with full size Spange also from buttonhole!), KVK2X, Hindenburg Cross X, Austrian WWI CommemX, can't make out, what looks like a Red Cross or Volkspflege award (in wrong place if so), a Wehrmacht "4" (!!!!), an Austro-Hungarian Military Merit Cross 3rd Class with War Decoration (sic-- should be between KVK and HC!!!), can't make out, Hungarian WWI Commem X, Bulgarian WWI Commem X.
Unfortunately, from that combination it is not possible to identify this retread (E) officer because he does not have a unique combination of WW1 awards. I wish his shoulder board devices were visible-- those might have "named" him.
Very bad, naughty Oberst wearing an "Ugly" ribbon bar, all out of regulation precedence!!!
Now the General!!!!....
His ribbon bar is: Prussian EK2 1914, Austro-Hungarian MMC3wWD, two Austro-Hungarian "war" awards with swords (presumably silver and gold Signum Laudis medals which were never given to non-Austro-Hungarian officers), Hindenburg Cross X, Wehrmacht "4" (!!!!!), and Hungarian WWI Commem as often worn without swords since the ribbon itself indicated combatant variety. Can't make out what appears to be a single ribbon added beneath, KVK ribbon from his buttonhole.
Now, what is strange about HIM is his "minimalist" attire:
He was OBVIOUSLY an Austro-Hungarian officer in WW1, NOT a German: yet he is NOT wearing the 1917 Troop Cross, nor an Austrian WW1 Commemorative Medal. He looks the age to have even had a 1908 Jubilee Cross. AND, of course, he is wearing only a SINGLE Wehrmacht long service ribbon. Per regulations, that could only be a "4"-- and yet that simply cannot be! I have seen a number of ribbon bars to Austrians with a single GOLD Wehrmacht long service eagle-- contrary to regulations, but apparently some fairly common misreading of the regulations which stated if an Austrian Long Service Award is held, only ONE higher Wehrmacht LSA may be worn WITH it.
No wonder he has not taken the Oberst to task for having a non-regulation ribbon bar--when HE hasnt got one either! Well, at least his is in the correct mounting order-- though it seems he has LEFT OFF half his awards!!!Comment

Here is a foto of RKT General Menny (RK 26.12.41 als Oberst d. 15. Schtz. Brgd.)...this, I believe is the only foto I have of a two row ribbon bar and I thought that some of you might find in of interest.
